Burkina Faso, Africa. The people of the small village were startled by a brilliant fireball that appeared overhead
and loud rumblings like thunder. Soon after the noises stopped, a shower of stones and fragments rained down
over a large area. So far, around 20 to 25 kilos of material has been found. Classification Data: Bilanga is a very rare
type of meteorite called an Achondrite, Diogenite (ADIO). It is comprised chiefly of orthopyroxene. The Diogenites
are truly among the rarest of all meteorites, only 14 known now, less than the Mars meteorites! The fact that this is
a witnessed fall and is believed to be from the asteroid Vesta, makes it all the more valuable. That makes this one
particularly rare. On March 28th, bob Haag and Michael Farmer, traveled to Burkina Faso Africa in search of this
meteorite. They managed to only get a few hundred grams of material. If you have ever seen a show about meteorites
on The Learning Channel, you have likely seen Bob Haag. He is the world's foremost meteorite collector and hunter.
