Name: Dhofar 461
Location: Dhofar region of Oman
Type: Lunar, Primarily Anorthositic
Lunar meteorite with a total known weight of 33.72 grams was found April, 2001.
Extensive searches of the area turned up a handful of additional small fragments.
This is an anorthositic crystalline melt breccia. A few tiny white flakes of
anorthosite can be seen in the otherwise dark vesicle rich matrix. Dhofar 461
is paired with Dhofar 026. A 148.0 gram meteorite found in 2000.
