History
Name: Fredricksburg
Location: Gilespie County
Texas
Type: Hexahedrite IIAB
This meteorite was found in about the 1930's but wasn't recognized
until the year 2000. It was handed down by the family and was taken to
Anchorage, Alaska where it was finally recognized as meteoritic. The
owner had left it outside for years and his wife had requested that he
get rid of the piece. It shows numerous plow marks from years of being
in the ground. It probably spent its life in a rock pile or holding
down a fence line. Total weight for the find was 47 kilos.
