Tuxtuac
History

Name: Tuxtuac
Location: Zacatecas
Mexico
Type: Amphoterite LL5
This meteorite arrived at 6:20 PM on October 16, 1975 with the sound of
thunder. Startled residents reported a smoke trail in the air which
pointed the way to where the meteorite landed. It was several years
before the first fragments were located, with the main mass being
found 13 years after it fell. Approximately 29.25 kilograms was
recovered. Tuxtuac is an unusual LL chondrite because it lacks veining
and brecciation features. Metal iron occurs within the METEORITE as
small angular grains associated with trolite. Chondrules are clearly
defined and come in several varieties.
This meteorite was published in the Meteoritical Society Bulletin No. 59
